The Authority maintains close liaison with the relevant inspection bodies to ensure that standards are maintained.

All establishments must comply with the Australian Standard for the Hygienic Production and Transportation of Meat and Meat Products for Human Consumption.

The WAMIA maintains a close working relationship with the WA Department of Health (DOH) - http://www.health.wa.gov.au. DOH carries out auditing of approved abattoirs and other establishments processing meat products for the domestic market.

Similarly WAMIA works closely with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) - http://www.aqis.gov.au/ - to ensure standards and operations within export processing establishments comply.

AUS.MEAT (The Authority for Uniform Specification Meat and Livestock) - http://www.ausmeat.com.au/ - is a national body established to implement a national description system for meat and livestock. WAMIA works with AUS.MEAT to ensure that the meat supply chain in WA produces meat products that are accurately described.
