Many parts of Western Australia are experiencing severe dry conditions at the moment. The Muchea Livestock Centre (MLC) has not been exempt from the impacts of the current conditions.

Due to the lack of rainfall since the beginning of summer, the water levels in the MLC dams are now at critical levels and WAMIA has commenced supplementing its water from external sources.

WAMIA is conscious of the needs of the community and industry as a result of this season. Therefore, WAMIA will be prioritising the use of water in MLC for operational continuity and biosecurity risk mitigation.

From 11:00am Wednesday 1 May 2024, the truck wash facility will be closed and only open from 9:00am Sundays to 11:00am Wednesdays until further notice. This decision was made to balance the need for precious water resources with the need to mitigate the biosecurity risks associated with livestock transport.

Outside the opening times, the truck wash facility is only available for use through advanced booking with WAMIA. Please call 0413 752 262 between 6:00am to 6:00pm to request for approval to use the truck wash outside the opening times.

The use of the truck wash outside the opening times will need to be approved by WAMIA. If approved, a WAMIA employee will provide the date and time for the use of the facility. Approval will be subject to water availability.

We appreciate your understanding of our situation. If you have any questions, please email us at wamia@wamia.wa.gov.au or ring the Administration Office at 9571 0013.
